Mango Turmeric Lassi

Lassi gets a golden makeover here, blending sweet mango with tangy yogurt and a pinch of turmeric and cardamom for warmth. It’s a five-minute blender drink that tastes as good as it looks.

Serve it cold with a dusting of turmeric and a sprig of mint for a breakfast smoothie, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a cooling side with spicy food.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ripe mango, chopped (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk, plus more to thin
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • fresh mint leaves, for garnish
  • ground turmeric, for garnish

Method

  1. Add the mango, yogurt, milk, honey, turmeric, cardamom, and black pepper to a blender.
  2. Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy, about 30-60 seconds.
  3. Add the ice cubes and blend again until frosty and well combined. Add a splash more milk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Pour into glasses, garnish with a sprinkle of turmeric and fresh mint leaves, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, swap in a plant-based yogurt and milk of your choice. A small pinch of black pepper helps your body absorb the turmeric, and you won’t taste it. Frozen mango works great here and means you can skip the ice.
